Education: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

Experience: 2+

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 
 

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a photo researcher in a fast-paced lifestyle website, magazine, or publishing environment.
     
  • Strong knowledge of copyright, permissions, and usage rights.
     
  • Experience uploading and organizing images for publication.
     
  • Excellent editorial judgment with a keen eye for visuals.
     
  • Awareness of photo industry trends and familiarity with working photographers.
     
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities: 
 

  • Conduct extensive image research to source high-quality visuals from stock photo libraries, PR agencies, creative commons, and public domain sources.
     
  • Negotiate and license copyright materials with rights holders, publishers, vendors, and agencies.
     
  • Manage permissions and copyright clearances, ensuring full compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
     
  • Liaise with editors, authors, and rights holders throughout the production process — from research to final file delivery.
     
  • Coordinate with project managers and clients to meet deadlines and maintain editorial standards.
     
  • Maintain detailed records of rights, licensing terms, and usage agreements.
